At The Lighthouse Bali, we offer professional therapy with qualified international clinical psychologists from Australia, U.S.A, UK, and New Zealand. The Lighthouse therapists are available for one-to-one sessions in both our primary addiction program, as well as for private therapy in our Bali office, or, via Skype. Our therapists offer treatment for a wide range of issues including addiction, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, and more. Our office is located in Sanur, Bali and we are currently accepting private therapy clients, as well as inpatient substance abuse clients.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapeutic modality that is beneficial for a wide variety of conditions, including substance abuse, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and more. This modality is widely used in both our inpatient recovery program, and for our private therapy clients.
CBT focuses on discovering solutions for current, every day, problems and will help you to identify negative patterns of thoughts, feelings, and actions. CBT is based on a model that has 5 interconnected parts. In our lives we are constantly involved in “situations” that will result in four types of responses: emotional, physical, thoughts, and behaviors. You will then create strategies for breaking these negative patterns in your life. You will work together with your therapist to implement these solutions in your daily life.

Mindfulness Based Therapy
Mindfulness is a holistic therapeutic technique that will help you discover present feelings and awareness about yourself including what is happening around and inside you. Mindfulness has been commonly used for thousands of years in Eastern cultures but only recently has Western medicine discovered the man benefits of this style of therapy.
Self-awareness is the key to mindfulness work and this awareness can be a steppingstone to address difficulties in your life. By becoming more aware of the present moment, you will able to regulate your emotions, leading to an increase in overall well- being.

Schema therapy is an integrative therapeutic treatment that combines multiple aspects of behavioral, interpersonal, and experiential therapies into one modality. The goal in schema therapy is to treat deep patterns or themes in your life, “schemas”, and usually targets patterns that were associated with negative or dysfunctional behaviors. These patterns are often developed through a variety of coping styles such as schema avoidance, schema compensation, and schema maintenance.
Schema therapy contains three important stages. The first is a diagnostic phase in which themes and patterns will be identified. Often, our therapists will assign questionnaires to be used in real life situations to help discover these behavioral patterns. The next phase is experiential and is designed to help discover emotional awareness of these patterns in your day-to-day life. The third stage begins to address the necessary behavioral changes that will replace the negative patterns and themes with new, healthier, behavioral options.

EMDR, short for, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, is a therapeutic treatment that is often used in the treatment of issues including trauma, alcoholism, drug addiction, and depression. This type of therapy is designed to help you process pasts trauma in a healthy manner.
During EMDR you recall disturbing memories in brief intervals while simultaneously focusing on an external stimulus which will allow you to process these memories or traumas. The brain often struggles to process certain traumas, which can result in nightmares, flashbacks, or other negative behavioral responses. By accessing these traumas in a safe environment and with a psychologist, the goal is to process the traumas with more positive associations.

The 12 step recovery model is a well-known recovery program that uses a holistic approach to work through addictive tendencies by connecting the body, mind, and spirit. The 12 step model is optional in our primary recovery program but is highly recommended as a viable long-term recovery tool. The 12 step model would be incorporated during one-to-one recovery work with your peer counselor. This model is a great addition to the therapy that you will receive from our clinical team.
The 12 step programs are highly successful because of the connectivity between its members and the emphasis on helping others who are in need. The program is based on spirituality, which, can be described simply as our connection to the world at large. We are fortunate to have daily meeting options in Bali for multiple 12 step programs.
