Rehab in Bali: About Sanur
Sanur is a coastal village that sits close to the city of Denpasar, on the beautiful Indonesian island of Bali. Sanur is located in the southeast of the island, and has grown into a little town in its own right.
Sanur is approximately 20 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport, an easy drive on the newly completed toll-road that crosses Benoa Harbor.
A long white-sand beach runs along the edge of Sanur and is sheltered by a living coral reef. A wonderful sidewalk runs along the top of the beach from one end of town to the next, offering walkers, joggers and bikers a scenic path.
Artists Miguel Covarrubias, Adrien-Jean Le Mayeur and Walter Spies, as well as anthropologist Jane Belo and choreographer Katharine Mershon all spent time in the Sanur area. Perhaps this is, in part, because of the quiet and relaxed feel of the coastal town.
When not showing feathering and billowing clouds, the blue skies are filled with vibrant color. This place is truly idyllic, tranquil, and laid back. It has been a long time spiritual center for Balinese, featuring many temples, Hindhu and Buddhist, a mosque, and there are even a few churches close by. The atmosphere is as unique as its stunning architecture, full of interesting detail. Rice paddies still dot the outskirts of town.
If you are already considering attending rehab in Bali, Sanur offers the perfect surroundings for those in recovery.
